In October of 2019 I went to MPC India for a month to make some friends and share a class I created for insight and tips on beauty compositing.

In this episode, MPC NY VFX artists Ash Yee and Giulia Bartra chat to each other about their experiences of moving to New York and breaking into the industry. Ash Yee is a CG Generalist with a Lighting specialty. She holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and graduated in 2015. Giulia Bartra is a Visual Effects compositor specializing in beauty and photography who graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2016. Besides Visual Effects, she loves watercolors, making soap and pretending to be a chef.

Hi! My name is Giulia Bartra-Howe. I’m a Visual Effects Artist, occasional Project Lead, and Photographer. Born in Peru and raised in South Florida, I earned my BFA in Visual Effects and Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.

Now based in New York City, I work as a Nuke Compositor and Junior Flame Lead at Artjail, primarily in the commercial space, with occasional work on TV series. My passion lies in beauty and fashion, and I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of my favorite brands, including Tom Ford, Tiffany & Co., CoverGirl, Pantene, and more.

I take great pride in my work and strive for excellence in every project I touch. Outside of visual effects, I enjoy singing and painting.
I’m grateful for every opportunity life brings and excited to see what’s next on the horizon!
